Could the Olympics to blame for North, and South Koreas hostilities?

After the 3 year shooting war that ended in 1953, North and South Korea never actually signed a peace treaty this meaning that the countries are still technically at war! Albeit this war was not of military action, but consider it a race of development and world recognition.  considering the idea that there are many factors that contributed to what actually went wrong between North, and South Korea.  One factor being the 1988 summer Olympic games that where hosted by South Korea in Soule which unsurprisingly caused a few issues. For a time North Korea was in the lead in this race for national recognition, BUT, after the north being declared a terrorist state in 1988 this is just a short explainer to tell you what happened.
